Impacting Education
Grants are for specific programs or courses, which impact medical
and other health professionals during their education and training.
The Trust seeks to encourage nursing, medical and other allied health
professional schools as well as postgraduate training programs to introduce
a course or program advocating a loving care model of leadership and
culture or a similar program addressing spirituality and compassionate
care. By educating future health professionals, the Trust aims to introduce
its mission of loving care to the community with the end goal of students
entering into their chosen professions with the charge of providing
compassionate and loving care to patients.
What we mean by loving care: Radical loving care is defined by the Trust as loving others unconditionally. By bringing the “Heart” back into today’s technical world of healing, we believe that caregivers will suffer less burnout or compassion fatigue and feel more fulfilled by their important work. We believe that most caregivers enter into healing work with the intention of giving loving care. It is our mission to reawaken and reinforce that spirit and passion for caregiving. We also believe that leadership can create a culture of loving care in a healing organization. An organization demonstrates loving care when, a) the practice of love is advanced throughout the organization, and b) there is an active effort to train staff not only in the delivery of loving care but also in the thought process that creates the intention to love. The Trust offers technical assistance and training in this regard. We also make available materials that discuss this subject including a book, videotapes, music CDs and our website.
