The mission of Alive Hospice is to provide loving care to people with life-threatening illnesses, support to their families and service to the community in a spirit of enriching lives. The grant requested will be used to fund Alive Hospice's Nurse Preceptor Program which provides individual emotional and technical support to new nurses to help increase their employment satisfaction, reduce new nurse turnover, and increase overall quality of care for patients. 22 out of 24 (92%) new nurses will complete their 60-Day Review indicating that they are "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their Nurse Preceptor/Team Mentor experience in preparing them for their new role. 20 out of 24 (83%) new nurses will indicate on their Six-Month Survey that they "agree" or "strongly agree" that they are very satisfied with the training received from their Nurse Preceptor/Team Mentor. 19 out of 24 (79%) (or a 17.6% turnover rate) new nurses will indicate on their Annual Review that they are "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their Nurse Preceptor/Team Mentor experience during their first year as a hospice nurse.
