Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee (BBBSMT) was formed in 1969, when a group of civic leaders and human service professionals shared a concern and a vision. Its mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally-supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.  Its goals for the year include:  Increase the number of children served by 6.7%, to 3,000; Increase agency revenues by 8%, to $2,851,179; Produce developmental growth for children as measured by the BBBS Youth Outcomes Survey in the areas of social acceptance, academic performance, educational expectations, attitudes toward risk behaviors, and parental relationship; and to continue to provide extra support services for families, mentors and youth through initial and ongoing training, parent activities, Big/Little relationship development activities, Kids Club, summer activities for site-based matches, and regular educational, recreational or community service activities.
