CASA of Maury County, Inc. was established as a legal entity in October 2005 and began serving children in September 2006.  Their mission is to advocate for the best interests of children ages 0-18 who have been victims of abuse and neglect.  Advocacy is performed by carefully selected and well-trained community volunteers appointed by the juvenile court to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).  CASA volunteers advocate for safe and permanent homes where the children can be free from further abuse and neglect.  The grant requested in this application will be used to assist in funding the salary of the Program Director who trains, supports, and mentors all CASA volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in order to insure the children will have a safe place to call home.  CASA of Maury County, Inc. will achieve acceptance of its recommendations for permanency in 78 of 85 (92%) cases closed by the juvenile court.  At case closure 75 of 85 (88%) of the children and/or their families of placement will have appropriate wrap-around services (mental health, parenting skills training, Adoption Support and Preservation Program, etc.) to aid in successful permanency.  Six months after case closure, 79 of 85 (93%) of the children served by CASA of Maury County, Inc. will be in safe, permanent homes free of re-abuse.
