Center for Health Services
The Center for Health Services (CHS) was established in 1972 to facilitate solutions to health problems in communities. Internationally recognized for low cost, effective initiatives that address birth outcomes, child development, senior health, pollution, women's health, and medical education, one of CHS' special strengths is in using community members as health workers. This grant will fund home visits, incentives for group meeting participation and group trainings for low-income pregnant and new mothers. By December 2013, 20 of 22 (90%) mothers participating in at least 6 prenatal group gatherings will give birth to children at full term gestation and healthy birth weight. By December 2013, 20 of 22 (90%) mothers participating in at least 6 postnatal group gatherings will increase their score on the Protective Factors Survey.
