Community Clinic of Shelbyville
The Community Clinic was established in 2003 as a free service to provide primary medical care to working uninsured adults of Bedford County. It serves persons with household incomes no larger than 200% of federal poverty levels. It has 7 physicians that volunteer and 3 nurse practitioners that provide care 3 evenings a week. The grant requested in this application will be used to contribute to the funding of the nurse practitioners. Of the 473 persons treated in a year 80 %( 378 persons) will have their health care needs identified and met. 354 persons out of 473(75%) will have access to free prescription medications or receive a reduced rate for medications by application to pharmacies or through the free medications provided. 300 persons will be provided with free dental care resulting in improved oral health and improving the overall health of that client.
