Domestic Violence Program
Established in 1986 the mission of the Domestic Violence Program charter is to provide emergency services to victims of domestic violence, their minor children, victims of sexual assault and elder abuse by providing a 24-hour crisis line, safe-shelter, court advocacy, counseling, case management, follow up care and most recently transitional and permanent low income supportive permanent housing. This grant will fund a portion of the Transitional Housing Coordinator's salary. 900 our of 1000 (90%) of walk-in domestic violence victims seeking Orders of Protection and counseling will also learn about follow-up services so that they will not seek out their abusers in emergencies. 250 (28%)out of these 900 walk-in clients will use a follow-up service lessening evictions, shortage of food in the household or loss of utilities. ( 90%) of 110 safe shelter residents will learn about independent living as an option for their themselves and their dependent children lessening the stress of the short six week shelter stay.
