Elders First Adult Day Services provides person-centered daycare for persons age 55+.  It specifically targets individuals who are too "well" for institutional care but not well enough to be left unsupervised in a home setting.  This grant will support a portion of the Program Director’s salary.  24 of 30 (80%) day program participants will maintain cognitive abilities as demonstrated by scores on the MMSE, and 24 of 30 of (80%) of program participants will maintain or improve level of mood as measured by the Geriatric Depression Scale with testing at 6 month intervals.  19 of 30 (64%) caregivers of the elderly receiving 4 hours of relief per week will report improved physical health, 23 of 30 (78%) will report improved emotional health, less depression and stress, more time for healthy behaviors (specifically:  employment, leisure, shopping, rest, and exercise); high level of caregiver satisfaction in  27 of 30 (90%)caregivers.
