The Exchange Club/ Holland J. Stephens Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse
The Exchange Club/Holland J. Stephens Center is a non-profit, child abuse prevention agency established in 1988. Its mission is to identify families with children from birth through age 12 at-risk of child abuse and neglect and to prevent that abuse/neglect through the provision of the appropriate home-visitation, group parenting, advocacy, or community education program. This grant will fund 25% of the salaries for the Friends for Families Program Director and the three Friends for Families Family Services Coordinators (FSW's) serving Overton, Putnam, and Cumberland Counties. Of the parents successfully completing at least 12 weekly home-visits, 85% (144 of 169) will demonstrate a decrease in level of risk for child abuse/neglect by 15% decrease on AAPI, an increase in knowledge and use of positive parenting skills by any level decrease (according to Triple P, any decrease is significant) on the Triple P Parenting Scale (PS, measures dysfunctional parenting scales, therefore a decrease in score is sought), and demonstrate an increase in Protective Factors by a 15% increase on the Five Protective Factors survey. 85% (144 of 169) of the families successfully completing the 12 weekly home-visits using the Triple P curriculum will remain free from abuse and neglect at one-year after participation in the program.
