 Established in 2002, the mission of The Mary Parrish Center is to provide a therapeutic transitional housing program and a myriad of loving, comprehensive services enabling survivors of domestic violence to heal from their abuse, reclaim their autonomy and reawaken their hopes and dreams. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund the partial salary for their therapist who provides holistic therapeutic/support services to the women and children of the transitional housing program as well as crisis counseling and referrals to those victims who call the MPC in need.  9 of 11 (82%) of the residents, will report a reduction in the symptoms of PTSD as a result of physical, sexual, and/or psychological trauma (e.g. nightmares, hyper vigilance, sleep disruptions, and appetite disturbances) and will further report an increase in an overall sense of wellbeing and hopefulness. 5 of the 6 children (82%) will show a decrease in problem behaviors associated with those who have been sexually abused or are displaying sexual behavior problems.  5 of the 6 (82%) mothers of sexually abused children will report that they feel more confident, more educated, and are better able to cope with a child who has been sexually abused.
