NAMI Tennessee
Founded in 1986, NAMI Tennessee, the state affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is a grassroots, self-help organization of individuals and families living with mental illness. NAMI is dedicated to improving quality of life for people with mental illness, their families and communities. This grant will support the implementation of a new program, People Restoring Identity through Mentoring and Education (PRIME,) which enhances recovery from mental illness by linking Peer Mentors with individuals ready to take ownership over their recovery process and life goals. 110 of 120 (92%) mentees report an increase in hope for recovery. 110 of 120 (92%) develop a recovery plan. 100 of 120 (83%) have taken one step toward recovery such as developing a wellness team, adhering more fully to their treatment plan, etc. 2 of 5 mentees are trained and employed as Peer Mentees in Year 2.
