Nashville International Center for Empowerment
Founded in 2003, The Nashville International Center for Empowerment is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants of Middle Tennessee through direct social services and educational programs. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund a health program that will teach 230 refugees and immigrants the importance of healthy living and how to implement healthy living choices in their lives. Specifically, funds will be used for program staff time, supplies, and costs of mileage to transport clients to and from the NRHI. 112 out of 150 (75%) participants will complete six months in the program and move closer to a healthy BMI by gaining, maintaining or losing weight as needed, leading to reduced health risks. 112 out of 150 (75%) participants will complete six months in the program and maintain or decrease their glucose level and/ or blood pressure during the program period, leading to decreased health risks. 112 out of 150 (75%) participants will complete six months in the program and not develop hypertension, diabetes or obesity during the program period.
