Established in 1984, Park Center restores hope, provides opportunities and promotes recovery of persons with mental illness through holistic services that focus on their needs, choices and strengths.  The grant requested in this application will be used to fund the salary, benefits and some expenses of Park Center's Licensed Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor (LADAC) in the Co-Occurring Program.  72 out of 120 (60%) will begin the Hazelden Co-Occurring Disorder Program that includes Cognitive-Behavioral, 12-step Facilitation and Motivational Enhancement Therapy courses to learn coping skills, understand their mental illness and its interaction with their drug/alcohol use, learn to change behaviors that trigger their drug/alcohol use or their mental illness and provide a consistent support system as they heal. 66 out of 120 (55%) will display a positive movement toward a decrease in symptoms, reducing relapses and hospitalizations, and managing their mental illness within the first year through case review, self reporting and drug testing.
