Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee
Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee (PCAT) began in 1984 as Parents Anonymous, and in 1998 became the Tennessee Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. Its mission is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Tennessee's children by working with parents, professionals, and communities to provide education, resources, programs, and services that strengthen families. PCAT's outcomes for the year include: 97% of mothers who indicate Post-Partum Depression will be connected with mental health services, 80% of smoking mothers will reduce smoking during and following pregnancy, 98% of children will be free from child abuse and neglect (no substantiated reports to the Department of Children's Services), 95% of parents will participate in the American Academy of Pediatrics Safety Checklist to identify hazards in their home.
