Safe Haven Family Shelter
Established in 1984, Safe Haven (SHFS) is the only shelter to housing program in Middle Tennessee that accommodates homeless families. It accepts married couples and single parent families with children up to 18 years of age. SHFS can serve 20 to 25 families at a time through a main shelter campus, six transitional homes and a Rapid ReHousing Program. Safe Haven strives to stop the cycle of chronic homelessness before it begins by providing the necessary education, counseling and support for families to return into the community with stable employment and secured housing. Its mission is "to provide shelter and transitional services that empower Middle Tennessee homeless families with children to achieve lasting self-sufficiency." Its goals for the upcoming year are: 1. To provide optimal, effective, and comprehensive services to homeless men, women and children through our shelter programs. 2. To identify and secure new funding sources that will support our growth and continued operations. 3. To expand program services as we build capacity while serving our families deeper, with a focus on components that will support their sustainability in independent living.
