Founded in 1978, the Sexual Assault Center is the only organization in Middle Tennessee that specializes in treatment for sexual assault survivors. Its mission is to end sexual violence and provide healing for children, adults and families through counseling and education. SAC employs 12 specially trained, certified therapists who work with approximately 750 individuals each year (half of whom are children), regardless of ability to pay. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund intake, therapy and advocacy services for 50 low-income clients and their family members.  70% or 35 of the 50 clients served through BHT funds will demonstrate a reduction in at least 2 trauma related symptoms during the 12 month reporting period.  80% or 40 of the 50 clients served through BHT funds will report overall satisfaction with services received at SAC on our Client Satisfaction Survey which addresses: increased understanding of issues surrounding the abuse, noted decrease in symptoms, overall satisfaction with services, increased knowledge of accessing benefits, and recognition of legal rights.
