St. Thomas Family Health Centers
The Saint Thomas Family Health Centers are strategically located to provide quality healthcare to some of the most vulnerable, poor and at risk populations. The clinics offer primary care services including disease management, treatment of acute and chronic illness, as well as specialty programs such as Diabetes management and comprehensive prenatal care. This grant will fund blood and lab work fees associated with the Clinica Nueva Vida Program which provides prenatal care to Latin American women at a discounted rate. 80% of enrollees (between 144 and 173) stay enrolled in the program and maintain the weight gain relative to their height and bone structure to reduce the risk of preterm birth, low weight baby, and potential infant mortality. 85% of enrollees (between 59 and 70) with blood test results indicating anemia see an improvement of 1 to 2 points in their hemoglobin count within 1 month of taking prenatal vitamins. This reduces the risk of preterm birth, low weight baby, and potential infant mortality.
