Established in 1976, United Neighborhood Health Services is a private non-profit group of primary health care centers and related services providing integrated care to those who are uninsured and underserved in Nashville and Middle Tennessee. The mission of United Neighborhood is to improve the health and quality of life of the underprivileged, vulnerable and minority residents of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. It does this by providing a health care home without regard to ability to pay and by promoting health policies that advance a healthier tomorrow. It currently operates 19 community-based clinics, five of them in Metro Schools. This grant will be used to fund trainings, workshops, group facilitation and on-site observation and coaching designed to transform UNHS into a healthy, healing organization, one in which the staff feel as cared for and supported as our patients. Within 6 months of self-care training, 75 of 150 employees (50%) will "agree strongly," via questionnaire, that UNHS provides "employee assistance for burnout," versus 13.8% in 2008.Within 12 months of self-care and team-building trainings, staff will have 25% fewer unplanned absences from work (372 versus 497), compared to the same period in 2010.
