Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center
The Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center (VBWC) is dedicated to serving persons with diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck, and hearing, speech, language and related disorders. The Center restores health and the ability to communicate to thousands of people every year through patient care, professional education, and research. This grant will provide provide mental health services to help families deal with the grief of having a child with hearing loss and to obtain access to appropriate care. Thirty of the forty families (75%) participating in services will demonstrate reduced stress level by at least 8 points on "total stress" as indicated on the Parenting Stress Index.
