Established in 1993, the mission of Williamson County CASA is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. The vision is to ensure that each CASA child is in a safe and permanent home. A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a trained citizen who is appointed by a Judge to advocate for a child in Juvenile Court. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund a portion of the salary for the full-time Williamson County CASA Advocate Supervisor.

The Judge will accept the CASA recommendations for needed services and permanent placement in 90% (260 of 290) of cases, decreasing the likelihood that the child will re-enter the child welfare system. 90% (162 of 180) of CASA children will continue to remain in safe and permanent homes 6 months after case closure. As of June 2012, 95% (42 of 44 families contacted) remained.
