Since 1898, the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee has been dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. It is the vision of the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee to focus on women and girls who desire to create a better quality of life for themselves and/or their families, to achieve self-sufficiency, and to increase their financial strength. The grant requested will be used to fund portions of a case manager's salary and benefits and a portion of other program expenses. 172 of 215 (80%) women will identify strategies for physical and emotional safety by creating a plan within 48 hours of arrival at shelter.  172 of 215 (80%) women will attend 1 of 4 need-based therapy groups (domestic violence dynamics, family violence cycle, substance abuse, basic assertiveness training), which promote mental health.  118 of 215 (55%) women will, upon shelter exit, move into safe and sustainable housing, which means away from their abuser and affordable based on her income.
