Grants are made to non-profit organizations in Middle Tennessee qualifying under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code that have been in operation as a 501(c)(3) for at least one year. All grant proposals should display and emphasize respect for the dignity of all persons. Programs submitted should be consistent with the principles espoused by the mission and core values of the Baptist Healing Trust. The Trust advocates:
Access: Access to holistic, quality healthcare is a right of every individual
Dignity: Every human being is worthy of/deserves compassionate care
Impact: Initiatives address immediate needs and act as a catalyst for long-term solutions
Compassionate culture: Cultures of mindfulness, wisdom, peace, love and justice are essential to the delivery of compassionate care
BHT Statement of Inclusiveness: The mission of the Baptist Healing Trust is to be a caring ministry devoted to healing with love in the Christian tradition. Through our grant making programs, the Trust aims to increase access to quality, loving healthcare for vulnerable populations across Middle Tennessee. The Trust’s grant making policies reflect the belief that organizational performance is greatly enhanced when people with different backgrounds and perspectives are engaged in an organization’s activities and decision-making process. Thus, the Trust actively seeks to promote access, equity and inclusiveness, and to discourage discrimination based on race, creed, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and other factors that deny the essential humanity of all people. This principle is a lens through which all of the work of the Trust is viewed.
