The mission of the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center (CCCAC) is to serve children who are victims of severe abuse through prevention, education and intervention. The CCCAC has been providing services to children in the community since 2005. The grant requested will be used to fund a contract professional therapist trained in Trauma Focused CBT as well as supplies and training to support the children’s therapy program. Outcomes include: Twelve out of the twenty (60%) children and non-offending families who participate in the therapy program will complete the therapy process. Of those twelve children and families, ten of the children and families (83%) will experience a reduction in the trauma symptoms identified by the therapist at the initial intake and evaluation at the conclusion of therapy services. Trauma symptoms may include, but are not limited to such things as depression, anxiety, anger issues, sleeping problems and other behavior problems. 90% (11 out of 12) of the families that complete this program will communicate that they have an increased feeling of support during the therapy process.
