Friends Life, established in 2008, helps adults with intellectual disabilities grow personally, develop socially, and empowers them to discover their calling within the community and the world. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund the Mind, Body, Spirit (MBS)Program including dedicated program staff, related activities, materials and supplies. This program is designed as a holistic approach to health, which encompasses the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of an individual’s well-being. After 6 months, 25 of 44, or 57% of total clients and program staff will demonstrate improved physical health as seen in their increased weekly activity, range of motion, balance, positive weight, endurance and/or other health indicators that contribute to positive health outcomes as shown by physical health assessments and class participation. After 12 months, 37 of 44 or 84% of total clients and program staff will be successful in improving or maintaining physical health due to MBS programming since even maintaining physical health for this population is considered a positive goal.
