Established in 1998, Preston Taylor Ministries seeks to ensure that children have an opportunity for a hopeful future. Through an afterschool and mentoring program, PTM builds “joy-filled friendships” between youth and adults, provides reading and homework assistance, and offers opportunities for faith development. Serving over 150 youth, PTM strives to follow its mission: “PTM glorifies Christ Jesus by empowering Preston Taylor children to discover and live their God-inspired dreams through Christian friendships and love for learning”. The grant requested in this application will be used to fund PTM Life, a running and nutrition program for 40 3rd-8th students living at-risk in the Preston Taylor community. 32 out of 40 (80%) students will be able to prepare three healthy snacks on their own. 25 out of 40 (63%) students will complete one 5K in less than 40 minutes. 32 out of 40 (80%) students will indicate on end of course assessment a greater desire to eat healthy foods and to exercise.
