The Tennessee Health Care Campaign works for affordable access to high-quality health care for all Tennesseans. Agency’s goals for the year include: 1. Outreach and Education: to conduct presentations to reach eligible consumers for the ACA Marketplace for special enrollment prior to and during the Marketplace open enrollment beginning November 15, with additional attention to health literacy. 2. Team Building Among Stakeholders: Work to develop an understanding of the shared interest of multiple groups in enrollment activities and to encourage a community-based team approach for assistance to a greater number of middle Tennessee counties. 3. Seek new stakeholders and outreach mechanisms for harder to reach groups: immigrants, people of color, young, rural, LGBT, certain disease groups, those with a history of mental health problems, etc. 4. To use trained volunteers to provide in-person assistance to consumers to help them enroll in health coverage. 5. To continue to involve Middle Tennessee social workers and health care professionals as stakeholders, and to work with them to develop resources to assist consumers and volunteers cope with the emotional effect of a determination the consumer is not eligible for health coverage. 6. Advocate for reducing barriers to health coverage, particularly those involving TennCare, and monitor the registration process.
